Celebrant and Presider

Bishop Edward C. Malesic was appointed the fifth Bishop of Greensburg on April 24, 2015, by Pope Francis and ordained and installed July 13 at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. His principal goal as bishop is to spread the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, which he does while citing his episcopal motto, “Serve the Lord with Gladness.” A native of the Harrisburg area, Bishop Malesic was a biology major at Lebanon Valley College in Annville prior to entering the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, in 1981. He was ordained to the priesthood May 30, 1987, at St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg by Bishop William H. Keeler. He received a canon law degree from The Catholic University of America, served in parish and campus ministry positions and was judicial vicar for the Diocese of Harrisburg when he was appointed to Greensburg.
